Diane Steverynck transforms ordinary cardboard shipping boxes, drawing on their material qualities, there abundance and the stories they carry. From them, she creates a soft, supple blanket that offers protection while evoking the cardboard boxes found on the streets, which, for some, become makeshift shelters. The traces of logos and pictograms marking their destinations and shipments reveal stories of trajectories and journeys, of the international circulation of goods and the movement of people.
The mass-produced, everyday object is thus recycled and ennobled, allowing the collective history that resonates within it, as well as the stories of the individuals who experience it, to be heard.
